The Duke's Shipyards Launches the First Ship for 2023

Post by Duke Maddog »

Wow, I thought I'd posted this when I posted the ammo carrier, but apparently I didn't.

This is the first ship launched from my shipyards this year. It is the Trumpeter 1/700 scale USS Sacramento AOE-1 Unrep ship. It did fight me quite a bit, but I kept at it and finally got it finished. It's not as good as I was hoping for, but I got tired of it taking up space on my workbench!

Here it is, USS Sacramento:

Yes, I know two helicopters would not be on the landing pad at the same time with operating rotors. I usually lose the helicopter so one is a backup; for now I'm showing both on the deck. Speaking of the deck; this model also comes with a 1/700 scale forklift!

There she goes on her maiden voyage; thank you all for looking in, comments are welcome.

That is right nice there.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Cool. I was born in Sacramento, which somehow is relevant to this build :bag:
Thanks,

Beautiful work Mark. The unsung heroes of the fleet. Without the support ships, the tip of the spear gets dull real quick. You did some mighty fine work on this one.

Thank you guys! I appreciate the encouraging comments and compliments!

John, I'm glad this ship has some relevance to you.

Carlos, I agree, it would be awesome seeing more models of ships like this.
