1/48 Bandai AT-ST
Re: 1/48 Bandai AT-ST
Coming along!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Umm, it's not coming along at all at the moment. That's why I asked the question just now.

I've done hairspray once and as I read about it you put down your NMF or chromate, then hairspray, then color coat and scrub where you want wear/expose the undercoat. Looks like you've already got the color on.
Thanks,
John

Yeah I do. I was going to do a winter wash over it that's why I added the hairspray. But I won't be able to do the white paint until next week. Will it be ok till then?

Ah that makes sense - I knew I was missing something. I don't know for certain. Something about the water solubility of the hairspray allows to release, but no idea how long it remains water soluble. If nothing else you're breaking new ground here Mike!
Thanks,
John

Yeah this will either be a dumpster fire or a home run.

I'm a slow modeler and had chipping fluid on the model for more than a week before. Still worked. But it will get harder to reactivate it. Maybe you'll have to switch from brush to toothpick. Since you're doing a winter wash I'd go with an additional thin layer of hairspray, then wait for at least 30 minutes and then shoot the white paint.
When the sun of culture hangs low even dwarfs throw shadows.
Re: 1/48 Bandai AT-ST
It should still be good to go, the more hairspray layers you add the more it will chip, maybe a quick lite coat wait about 10 minutes then spray your white wash coat

Yeah I was going to do another coat of hairspray. Then we'll see. Went to Hobby Lobby and got some bases for this one and the Viper. The one on the right with the frame will be for the AT-ST.

Winter white wash? This is getting more and more interesting Mike - I hope it all works out.
