Right?! I always felt like Calvin once they started putting pictures of the actual model on the box. Back when they used paintings for box art, no worries…

I bought that kit in Silver Spring Maryland at the same time I visited the Smithsonian Silver Hill facility in the late 70's. Still haven't built it

And the MPC issue with the photo…

This was the boxing I was referring to. The close ups of the tail and nose in particular look nothing like the airfix kit :wow:

I might do that with this MPC kit Lyle. Decals are in great shape. Entire scheme is gull grey, apparently... should be easy paint job.

OOB is hard to stick with, even for a old man such as I. What I'd like to see is a video of the manufacturer taking a production kit and build it, warts and all.

Well, is it done yet?
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Not in my possession. There was a article many years ago in SAE iirc about it. There were a number of AMT kits that had mpc kits as box art in the 70's. Not here to argue. Believe me or don't. No skin off my back.
No, not trying to argue, I am just surprised by this! Thanks for the info!
No worries. I wish I could remember specifically but my mind just ain't on the ball anymore

That's funny, I have no problem at all building OOB. It is so easy for me to stick to it. :giggles: :bag:
