Another big model

Post by Gary Brantley »

Down at the Museum of the Pacific War, https://www.pacificwarmuseum.org/ in Fredericksburg, Texas, they have (or did have?) a big scale model of the U.S.S. Nimitz, CVN-68. From the looks of the aircraft on board, I'd guess it's 1/72 scale. Those planes aren't big enough for 1/48 are they? Anyway, it's a big model and well done. It was hard to photograph it through the glass and from far enough to get it all in the frame. I bet that ship is 12' long, maybe more? I took a few pics, not very good, but they do give an idea about the size.

Iirc that was featured in FSM years ago. Yes it's 1/72. Beautiful.

I think the Air & Space Museum in D.C. has something similar

I want to say that the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago used to have a 1/48 WWII fit Essex Class carrier model on display there. But that was a LONG time ago, back in the early 70's...
