For years, Oriskany Park had an A-4 Skyhawk from USS Oriskany carrier that needed a new paint job. It was sad, tired, faded looking old bird. I always make a stop whenever I was assigned to take another couriers afternoon run. My last stop was Oriskany.
I was pleasantly surprised to find her get a proper new finish. I ran into the courier who normally does this run and was old they were working on her over the summer. The Village of Oriskany is proud to find her with a fresh coat of paint.
I stopped and took some photos. Here she is in her glory...
Not sure why it's red on one side and blue on the other as shown above.

That's very cool, and deserving for an honorable old warbird! I wish Cameron had one.

I wonder if they used a red sharpie to do the inner edges of the gear doors
That's great to see her restored. I remember seeing some tired looking birds sitting outside at the March AFB museum.

A beautiful lady! Well deserved makeover.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

That is a very well done job by whoever did it. In a few years, it will probably need to be repainted again...

That looks fantastic. Being outside all the time with no maintenance really takes its toll on these old birds. Glad to see this one fixed up. We have an F-89 Scorpion in one of our parks in dire need of this, even in BMF she is looking quite tattered.
