That looks about right for that era!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Wow, that's awesome 👌 that you have a photo of that!

That's much nicer than I had for most of my teen years. Usually it was over a layer of newspapers on a portion of the kitchen table or my bedroom floor for a few hours. Although I did have a dedicated shelf in my bedroom for awhile as well. When my mom got a new sewing machine later on, I was able to take over the cabinet from her old one, and that was my first dedicated build and paint area. But I only had that for a year or so until I left for the Army.

During the summer months, my sister - yes, she caught the bug as I did; we used to build models on the front porch or on the floor with newspapers for drop cloth.

She mostly did car kits - one was that big 1/8 (?) scale Orange Corvette kit by Monogram.

A week or so ago we were texting talking about models we’ve done in our youth years. I brought up that big Corvette kit and instantly remembers it. She told me it was her all-time favorite kit and still is to this day. One of these days, I want to surprise her with another.

I’ve already bought her (she doesn’t know yet) a Tom Daniels Design kit called Jinx Express (formally Fast Buck) I’ve been looking for the decals of Fast Buck. I’m saving it for a time when we both each can work on a model kit together just as we ve done as kids. I’ve already have the Paddy Wagon kit I want to do with her.

Thats some good stuff there! Nice that you can potentially relive those times again.
