Looking good, Tom!

Looking good Tom.

I'm definitely in the white/pva glue camp for PE parts.

Minor paint progress. I started to try and test Mr. Hobby/Mr. Color Super Metallics 2 #SM 208 Duraluminum. They are an extension to Mr. Metal Color metallics line.

Image

I am impressed with them. No thinning required. I will admit, I did thin it last night when I painted the cowls for the Pucara.

The prop blades without thinning....

These Super Metallics 2 lacquers are practically airbrush ready. Smelly just as bad as Mr. Surfacer primer. A respirator is advised when using these metallics.

Other colors available by Super Metallics 2 line:

Fine Silver
Gold
Iron
Titanium
Chrome Silver
Rich Gold
Copper

Those look pretty nice. What did you thin with? Their leveling thinner?
Thanks,

When I did the cowls, I used Mr. Color thinner. When I saw how thin the paint was in the bottle, I tried it without using thinner. Worked like a charm without it. Sprayed really nice actually. I will post the pic of the propellers later tonight once the tape is off.

A couple painting progress...

Propellers are done. I opt to use semi-gloss black instead of flat black on the spinners. It looks too dull flat black.

Landing struts are painted Sky as seen in photos of real Pucaras. I followed a tip on how to paint the complete assembled struts for painting on YouTube of another Kinetic Pucara build.

Next are the landing gear doors..

Another paint brand I tried I got from my birthday haul - Mig of Jiminez' ATOM Color line and their thinner.

Image

It is self-leveling and has great covering power. Dries fast.

Image

The Uruguayan Pucara undersides is FS36628. Camo Grey doesn't even come close - its too dark. It is a very light grey, almost white but it's not even white!

Image

My impression? It does what it's advertised... self-leveling, great coverage power and dries fast. Can be used for hand brushing.

Thick almost like Testors enamel out of the bottle. Using their thinner is a must. I dare not test it using lacquer, acrylic or enamel thinner... yet. I will experiment with it at some point.

Again, this is my first time using Mig of Jiminez paint line. Will I acquire more colors of this brand? Absolutely! They have FS colors no one else has.

This build is on pause. Caught a bad cold from the missus today. Went home early from work, took a hot shower and slept at day. Sucks....

Probably will call into work tomorrow too.
