Quick Identification Marks ( just looked that up after O's post ). The white stripes. I was just looking at my kit and you're right - antenna is only called out for the other build. Strange as the box art on the side does show an antenna.
Looks like it had more of a whip than a blade.

Re: Tamiya 1/48 P-47D-5
I looked through my files and found this photo which I have stored at much higher resolution. Looks like it had one of those wire whip antennas at one time. I can't see any evidence in the photo of any wire from the fuselage to the tail.

I also noticed that in this photo there is a mirror on the top of the windscreen, but the instructions show two small mirrors in fairings on each side of the fuselage by the windscreen. Different date, different stuff perhaps.

Yeah, but then I'd also have to add that upper mirror and repaint what looks like an aluminum drop tank!

Hey great work John on your Razorback. I think you nailed the look of those early ETO thunderbolts!

What a great brace o' Thunderbolts, John!
That's some fine scale modeling, right there!
Re: Tamiya 1/48 P-47D-5
OD Thunderbolts are always nice! What are the swirl marks on the upper surfaces of the wings? Intentional?

Superb builds John, you're building up a really nice collection.
Thanks for the explanation on using TET on decals.

Great bunch of Jugs. The only bad thing is for a single engine fighter it takes up alot of space in the display.
