1970 Road Runner

Post by Ceaser_Sa1ad »

Hi all,
Got this road runner in the clearance section at Michaels for only $20 CAD. Really cheap imo, which is great for right now. I wanted to change out the tires, most of my cars have stock ride heights, so I thought to do something different.
I didn't raise the back end much, I am tempted to add more styrene to lift it even more. The tires themselves aren't really any bigger than the stock ones, but I think the thickness gives the illusion that they are larger than the front. See how it goes I guess. Here's a mockup:

Never done a ‘70 Road Runner kit in my younger years. I may have done a GTX though.

Nice! Wish I had time to build more Muscle Car's.

Nice - looking forward to seeing where this goes.

I've never really understood how you car guys alter the stance of a kit - do you alter the axle/spring parts?

Hard to explain. In my younger years, some kits came with "lift" tab parts for the rear. If I had spares, I would use them.

Those tires do look the part and period correct. Air shocks or lift shackles to "stink bug" the stance and add some crazy wide tires. Those were the days. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this. :shoutout:

Thanks guys,
Here's how the paint looks. I decaled, and will be doing the chrome, then re clearing it and polishing.

Engine is wired, I painted it gold. The air cleaner does NOT fit in this engine bay.
