Great stuff Christina and Bruce! Hard to believe that you started in the hobby so recently with the quality of the work that you have turned out. Its always a pleasure to see your projects in progress and how they finish.

Nearly ten years. Seems like a long time to me, lol. I know when I first started it was throw them together as quickly as possible. Now it takes me forever to get them done, and I'm much pickier about how they look when done. Plus I've learned a lot from you guys over the years!

Great interview, Christina. I, too had the chance to see Whiskey 7 at the Geneseo Air Show around 2012 or 2013. I paid for my son who was about 9 or 10 yrs old for a small admission to step inside Whiskey 7. I didn’t go in. I wanted to give my son an opportunity to step inside a WW2 aircraft.

Since then, I’ve been wanting to go back to their annual air shows but life seems to found other stuff to do. A couple years ago or so I was gung-ho on heading out there but realized it fell on our wedding anniversary. Nope… that’s a hard pass. Someday…

See I would literally leave for airshow weekend on our anniversary. My late hubby was always pretty forgiving, and knew how much the museum means to me. One year I even took his truck with our big camper. I took our daughter with us, so at least he had the house to himself, lol.

Meet BrandonK of SPA Modeler

Tell us a little about yourself.

Okay, here goes. I use an avatar and you can call my BrandonK if you like.

First model kit. If I recall, and it's only been 50ish years, it was the MPC Zingers Semi truck. A total glue bomb for sure.



Preferred scale. 1/48 aircraft, but 1/32 is really nice. 1/25 automotive and 1/35 armor.



Preferred subjects. WWII aircraft, muscle cars, WWII German armor.

Favorite model build to date. Automotive is 1/24 Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9, Armor-Trumpeter 1/35 Dickermax, aircraft-Kittyhawk 0S2U Kingfisher 1/32.

Hardest kit so far. Kinetic 1/48 E2-C Hawkeye



Holy grail kit. I have most of what I ever wanted, but the Aosima 1/24 Mad Max V8 intercepter. Easy to find, too much money.

Favorite kit maker. Overall would be Tamiya. They have something in all my generes. But so many other good kits.

Favorite glue. Tamiya ET for general work. For canopies, G-S Hypo Cement, jewelers glue, game changer. You won't ever use anything else after trying this stuff.

Favorite paint. It depends on what I'm doing and what color I need. I hate mixing paints. Yes Tamiya, I'm speaking to you. I mostly use Vallejo, Gunze, Tamiya, AK, Alclad, MM and Testors. In that order. I am a paint whore. I have too much.

What started you as a modeler. I have always had a love of cars ever since I could walk. My brother did models and I started up at about 7 or 8 in cars and stopped after high school. I took up the hobby again in 2014 and did one car and jumped in to WWII aircraft and after a while started armor and ships. I am now building cars again. I have about 11 active builds at the moment with some shelf queens as well. I am building from all genres at the moment.

Great interview Brandon. I can see how that E-2 could be a pain but you did a great job on it. Those other builds look sweet as well.
