Airfix Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat 1/72

Post by KSaarni »

Hi all,

I had a longer period of absolutely no bench time, no eager to do anything... many half-made projects etc that stood still...
I just had to "force" myself to, not only to build something, but to finalize also something..

So, I selected as my "back to business"-subject Airfix new 1/72 Wildcat kit... And oh boy, was it good! I enjoyed the build very much!

The build is out of the box and without any weathering, directly from the factory so to say... :-)

Some sort of scratchwork was though done... in other words, I did not have the correct blue gray color in my paint stash, so I had to mix it from those colors I had. The only way I could do it was to use a very cool iPhone app called iModelKit.

I liked the kit a lot, very high quality all in all. No issues with fits or so. The only small remark was the construction of the undercarriage, in my opinion way too complex for a 1/72 kit. And on top of all, you hardly see the stuff when the bird is done!

So below the lady that brought my motivation back to normal!

Great work Kari - that is a great looking build. I think you've done a great of matching that paint - I'm impressed.

Niceky done - makes me want to build mine now!

Cheers

Winner, winner, Wildcat dinner!

Don't you just love a build that comes out really nice and clean? Love the kit!
