First time I've seen this

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Same here. Yet the "stool" looks like it may be designed for supporting the nose. Could it be a maintenance stand used during servicing on the nose wheel?

Either way, pretty resourceful and minimal damage. :)

Nice landing by the pilot and great thinking on the crews part.

yep. he bounced that pretty good. wussy. Said he sat there trying to remember how to shut it down. Must be bad news to put it "nose on the deck". Some pretty good skills at work there.

Yes, I saw this on the news the other day. Carrier aviation has come a LONG way from the days of putting a disabled aircraft into the water, or into the barricade on a straight deck. Of course it is only VSTOL that makes this possible. And from the news clip that was shown locally, they said that the stand is specifically designed for this sort of incident. It sort of resembled an engine cradle to me.
"Surely I have made my meaning plain? I intend to avenge myself upon you, Admiral. I have deprived your ship of power, and when I swing 'round, I intend to deprive you of your life."

That definetly impressive flying. And only possible with the Harrier.

Ok the scary part of that, is that they made a "stool" for this. It must happen quite a lot if they have to do that.

Systems will fail. At least somebody had the foresight to come up with this solution, and it was implemented... But I am curious as to why it is being called a stool. Has to be a stool for a rather substantial posterior...
