Sure, I’m SPAM’s “Unapologetic Luftwaffe Modeler.” I love the 109.
That said, there are just certain American and Allies aircraft that totally do it for me, on a different level.
Like that A10 for example. Holy cow. The gun so badass they built a plane around it. That’s a recent acquisition. I just bought it and Inintend to build it as a gift for a good friend of mine back in Pittsburgh who’s a USMC veteran.
That Venture there was an impulse buy. I saw it and thought “That reminds me of the cover of the Motörhead album ‘Bomber’.” BOOM. Had to have it.
And then the Warhawk. Oh man. That is, in my mind, the ultimate testament to American grit. Never a top of the line plane. But boy did it kick some serious ass. Big. Ugly. Not top of the line. But it kicks wholesale ass none the less. That’s the Warhawk. That’s why it’s my favorite Allies aircraft. I bought that after I built the same kit in 48th. scale- I enjoyed it that much I wanted to do it again, bigger.
That Spitfire is an ambitious project. Got the Aires cockpit set, PE stuff from Ediard. If I build it, I’m gonna do-it up right, pull out all the stops.
And my Hellcat will be here in a few weeks, I’m stoked for that.
I relate to these aircraft differently then the 109’s. They scratch a different itch.
