Kenny, I think one of the things that I truly miss about your neck of the woods are the drive thru daiquiri places. I had told my wife about them, but she did not believe me. Then, when we went back to east Texas when my dad died a couple years ago, sure enough, there was one of those drive thru daiquiri places. Unfortunately we could not partake due to the needs of that situation. Which Army base were you working on Kenny?

Torben, I love that “Kilkenny” cartoon. Can’t say that I’ve tried that brand, but I am not one to limit myself in such things...

Fort Belvoir, Carlos! Gov’t contractor for DAU. If you ever had to take a class on how to properly buy a tank and lost your password for the Vietual Learning Center, I was the guy you got on the phone to help!

:hmm: Well I was never the PLL clerk to buy stuff for my units. And the only online stuff I did was with that stupid army.gov or Army.mil email that we had to use. I was locked out of that account before I retired in ‘07.
Isn’t Ft Belvoir in VA?

Yessir, it’s in VA. Lemme give you the rundown of where I’ve lived:

1. Born and raised in Tyson’s Corner VA and later Fairfax, VA.

2. Spent Summers in Houston, TX with my mom (where I first met my wife).

3. Lived in Woodbridge, VA when I moved out of Dad’s house.

4. Moved to The People’s Republic Of Maryland to be with my first wife.

5. Moved to Lusby, MD with my first wife.

6. Moved to Pittsburgh with my first wife, to be closer to her family. We subsequently got divorced.

7. Moved to Louisiana to be with the girl I met in Houston. Her mom had moved the family there after Hurricane Andrew, we met thereafter for the first time. Then she moved back to LA years later. We reconnected via Facebook and BOOM! moved here to be with her. Three months later we got married.

Complex, I know: and I’m doing IT in banking now, not government contracting for the DoD anymore.

Thank you so much for the history of places you have lived and the reasons why. Sincerely, all the best! Also: USPS sent me a note informing us both that delivery to your address will happen on Tuesday! Cheers.

Kenny, sounds like you have seen a good part of this country. And for good reasons.

LOL... I remember Tyson's Corner! My dad bought a Caprice Classic from a Chevy dealer in Tyson's Corner. My family emigrated from Japan to northern Virginia when I was about five. Lived in Sterling and my dad used to take me to Beaverdam Reservoir to fish. Lots of great memories of growing up in VA.

I’ve seen a lot of the Gulf Coast and the East Coast, for sure.

Pittsburgh was interesting. When my ex and I split up, it was decision time. Go back to the MD, DC, Northern VA area, or stay and see if I could improve my situation. I opted for the latter.

I was working a crappy IT job up there which I was dissatisfied with. That sucked. But I had my powerlifting, and had made a lot of friends at the gym where I trained. I even did two powerlifting meets. That was great. Not long after, I discovered Jiu Jitsu, so I have that a try. I liked that a whole lot. So after while, I quit my crappy job for a way better one with the bank (I’m still with the , I just work 100% remotely). I was earning more money, I got a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and things were really good. I felt like I’d finally gotten on the right track.

I reconnected with Tori, and came down to LA to visit her. She’s long since moved back (she’s from Abbeville). Nothing had changed after almost 20 years. Still the love of wachother’s Loves. A few months and subsequent visits later, I moved down here. Few months later we got married.

Now I have baby twins, at almost 40 years old LOL and I’m building models. Still lifting, but not like before. I’m running and cycling now too. No Jiu Jitsu because I can’t afford it right now but I’ll get back there one day.

I’ve had an interesting life so far.

So you live in Louisiana now? I'm here in Houston but I came from San Antonio. My dad was Army and we went a lot of different places but we kept getting stationed in San Antonio. That's what I really call my hometown.

Yessir! Lafayette! I was just in Houston in september seeing CLUTCH at the House of Blues! I spent summers there when I was a kid. Houston is a great town, and San Antonio is great too. Took a few trips there as a kid.
