When there is a quality kit out there: buy that one! Bad kits take a lot of work to make into good models.
I “promised” myself not to buy problems: old, short run or vac form kits whenever there is a better alternative available. For that reason I sold a dozen of my kits that fitted that criteria.

I do try to follow that advice on most purchases. Rather than buy what I can afford, wait until I can get what I want. In this case, I had no prior knowledge of this kit's quality, or lack thereof. In the end, there were too many fractures around the door frames and windscreen and the skids would not stay in place.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
