Glad you had a safe trip! Good fishing, good time with family and now back to the really important stuff. Sending me money to buy kits.
Outside of that, this is coming along nicely!

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Skreech! <insert braking noise> I've been informed that Hasegawa portrayed the horizontal stabilizers to be made out of wood so these rivets are not appropriate. Unfortunately, I've already laid them down on one of them so I have to putty all of the little holes.

John, excellent progress. Fixing the 'termite holes' should be a breeze for you.

Late war... critical shortages of materials like aluminum... just like wood was being used for propeller blades in that same time.AtomCat109 wrote:Wait... WOOD?!?!?!

Yeah! Apparently, towards the end of the war, the Luftwaffe was having all sorts of supply issues and wood versions for metal components started being used. The Hasegawa kit probably based their molds off of a preserved 109 that had a wood tail assembly. My scale drawings show a metal tail and without thinking, I just started to proceed with applying rivets to it. When someone over at LSP pointed out that Hasegawa is representing the wood tail, it finally clicked in my head. That's why it looked a little different than the scale drawings!AtomCat109 wrote:Wait... WOOD?!?!?!

Good catch on the lack of rivets John. I've been the victim of my own mistakes or misinformation causing me to either go back several steps to correct or hang my head in shame because it was too late for a repair of any kind.

Nice work John! Sucks about the rivets though.

Thanks guys! I've pretty much taken care of the rivets on the horizontal stabilizers. It took a couple of rounds of filling though. When the Mr Surfacer failed to fill the holes, I resorted to Black CA glue, which I probably should've started with.
The loop antenna on fuselage spine is a good replacement for replacement since the plastic loop is so thick.

I used my trusty piece of Coke can to fashion a new loop.

The FuG whip antenna and the pitot tube were similarly upgraded.
