Allison PT-6 1/10 scale from Atlantis
Re: Allison PT-6 1/10 scale from Atlantis
It was pretty simple. All done the hubs are glued on the blades, spinner is done...although one of the gears popped out after it was closed up. Drat. Had to open it, reposition and re-glue things. There will be some sanding of the spinner to smooth things out . . Then? Who knows. Perhaps some BMF to make it look purtu/

Spinner with blades dry fitted. You can see how the position changes. Once everything dries to a hardness I can sand and remove, the seams will be dealt with

You got this.

Not a fan of the colored sprue. This is going to be a fun build to watch!

Very interesting! Like the Guillows, not a subject you see too often.

Me either. I will say that it makes it quite easy to find things, though. The colors are listed by each part on the instructions.Floki wrote:Not a fan of the colored sprue. This is going to be a fun build to watch!
As with the prop blades, they could have been easily molded in one piece, but you would have had to paint the hub.

Spinner looks better. Still some rough spots, but it may do. Once it dries for a few days, I'll try wet sanding with 2500 and / or 4000 grit paper. It was primed a gray and then hit with Kyrlon Chrome rattle can paint. Then when i went to prime the blades, the can of primer quit. Oh well.
Here are a few more sub-assemblies. The instructions are good about naming each piece as to what it actually is. That is sort of nice. And for some of the dumb stuff they have done, the geared parts fit pretty well so far. Dumb stuff you say? How about sprue attach points with zero clearance? This is just one example.
Or, how about using Torque Meter Shaft (Part #27) for a sprue piece?
.
These sub-assemblies are all part of the reduction gear.
And they do have a sense of humour…..See step 9? Glue 29 to 30? Then in step 10 -but wait, before glue sets.....add the door. Okay, at the very bottom of step 9, they did say to keep going and not stop here. Who read the instructions? And, another trim job on the door to get the pin on the front to fit around the housing. Nothing major, though.
