Nope both enamel. Paint and primer in one. That was the second coat. I got a bit greedy spraying it.mustang1989 wrote:First off, that engine looks great in that chassis. Blower intake was a HUGE improvement!
Secondly, I have two questions. What did you use for a primer coat and what did you use for the color coat. This looks like what happened to me when I used a lacquer based paint over an enamel coat base.

Gonna be a goodern’!

Hmmmm…... . Looking forward to the recovery efforts on your car Tom.
I didn't like the interior much on this kit. For one....I cannot STAND molded in foot pedals and I don't care for the ejector pin marks in all four corners of the flooring either. And they are like in painfully obvious and highly visible places. I've already had to modify the rear of the interior to move those slicks further inboard so they don't protrude outside of the rear fenders all crazy looking. I also had to modify the rear of the chassis alot (which I am still working on) for the same reason.
A shot showing the OOB molded in pedals and flooring.
another shot showing the interior mods a little clearer:(as well as those nasty ejector pin marks):
We start the mod process by sawing off the foot board/ lower firewall area of the interior:
and then after the new Evergreen floor and lower firewall area were cut to fit and moved into place. There....much better.

I hate injector marks on interiors myself. I sometimes try to sand them down as best as I can but not always. Molded pedals don’t bother me much since I usually don’t have AM pedals. Now I do.

The ‘37 Chevy body and hood is currently undergoing paint stripping bath in Easy Off oven cleaner right now.

Re: BlackSheep's Racers, Dragsters, & Funny Cars Group Build
Sprayed another coat of Easy Off last night to sit for the night. Rinsed it off this morning and scrubbed it a bit. Didn't strip all the paint but a majority of it is faded. Good enough for me. Currently sitting in Dawn dishwashing detergent for the day. Will rinse and let dry later tonight. I'm going to spray a coat of primer since I found out both colors were not all in one paints. Well duh on my part. Lesson learned.

Re: BlackSheep's Racers, Dragsters, & Funny Cars Group Build
I've been accruing more parts for this build along the way.
Kit engine sucked so I acquired an R&M 429 Boss for it. This should liven things up a bit under the hood:
The chassis has undergone extensive modification in the last couple of weeks. Initially I was headed in a direction with the rear suspension that just wasn't looking right but have since made some changes. First off the front subframe area was shortened by 5/16 of an inch which looked ok but I had to acquire another Mustang kit in order to cut the rear frame rails from it to use in bringing both frame rails further inside to allow those rear slicks to further UNDER the car like the reference shot.
Before:
And after repositioning the frame rails:
I'll post some overall vehicle shots later to show the difference in how the overall car will look with these mods.
