I use black krylon for priming, as it already "pre-shades" your plane, then fill in the panel lines and overcoat the whole plane....

looks like this, in process:

Nuh-uh!! See that MiG in the example? That was done back in 2010. I DID THIS BEFORE IT WAS COOL, OK?!?! :what: :giggles: :Beer:

anyway, the preshade adds the "depth" I want, but is too uniform. So I made sure to add some lighter splotches to help break up the panels, and add some further variation.

that's looking good - the variation in the paint is nice and looks much better than a plain solid colour would. :beau:
