No way! I've only just pulled this kit off my shelf with a veiw to starting it and do I see - Kari's beaten me too it!

Very nice work so far Kari - I do like that IP and those new gun barrels!

No updates, unfortunately on any of my current projects due to pretty much work this month,

I did however do "something" tonight regarding the Defiant build.... and that was to order my first set of MrPaint - paints !

In other words, the Defiant will be painted using these MrPaint-paints...

Hi all,

Defiant is done.... finalized it finally yesterday...

Below a few extra WIP pictures, final work will soon be on "Completed builds"


For canopy masks I had ordered for the first time masks made by a Polish company Pmask. Unlike the more "classic" yellowish masking tape, these guys use a more stiff, black and more plastic than paperish material. During the masking process I noticed it's not so easy and convenient to put into place. Needs more force due to pretty thick material. Also I see due to this fact, there is more glue on the masks than those done by Eduard & co.






After the masking excersise was done, time for paint-booth blues. This is the first time I use the new Mr.Paint products, was exciting to test them out.
All in all ok paints, easy to use of course as no thinning needed, ready straight from the bottle. Noticed though, that the consumption is greater that with my Gunze or
Tamiya paints. I spray more, I need to fill the airbrush "all the time" as it feels. The bottom of the Defiant was painted with "Sky"-colour.



And after a layer of RAF "Dark Green", time for masking.. For masking I used this amazing "Clever putty" (aka Panzer putty).. Even if the masking does not follow 100% the original camo-pattern, I was nevertheless ok with it.



Masking off, both the putty and the Pmask canopy masks... While literally dragging off the black masks, I noticed that it left remains of the glue on the canopy. One side window has an annoying scratch from my x-acto blade. To be able to get those bloody masking tape off, I could not come up with any other solution than use the knife... with one accident...




Next phase in the project was the decaling.. There is not that much markings in Defiant, so entire phase took an hour. For decaling solution I use "Daco products" which is efficient and good and quick.





Then the final steps was to attach all the tiny pieces, some weathering... and voilá, done!

The end result will soon be shared on Completed Builds...

That does look nice - You painting is very good!

I use a sharp Cocktail stick/toothpick on masking tape.

She's looking good! I hate it when a canopy get scratched using an Xacto knife. A toothpick would be a better, safer way to go.

Looks great! Those masks do seem to work pretty well despite the issues. I love it.

Yes, agree.. wooden / cocktail sticks are absolutely to prefer, but the "P-mask" masking tape was just so tightly glued, especially under a layer of paint.. and I got sort of unpatient... and took the dramatic decision to use the x-acto....
