Did you say "base housing" and "garage" in the same sentence???....and carpeting???!!!!
Of the 8 base houses I lived in (Dad was a Huey pilot)...all were hardwood floors (except in Hawaii, that was concrete), and not a single one even had a carport, let alone a garage!

Times have changed. You should see the barracks for troops nowadays...

When I lived in the barracks ten years ago, I had my own room with a full size fridge and microwave. The Air Force has it's perks. Base housing is a lot different these days. When I was a kid I remember concrete walls and floors. Some base housing these days are very nice but probably about half is still....well it's a roof over our heads.
