I've got the main parts together and have applied a nice coat of Stynylrez grey and done some pre-shading of areas. I've got a first coat of the light grey rear section done and getting ready to make Frisket Film masks for the flames.
Aircraft in schemes of this sort are usually kept pretty immaculate. I would suggest you go very minimal on any pre shading.

I agree. Even colorful NATO Tiger Meet jets were kept immaculate.

That is what I was thinking. I will be laying down another coat of the light grey for the rear section and black on the nose. Then I will lay down the red over the top. I hope that another coat of the grey and the red will tone down the background shadows a bit.

So I had to do a little change of pace with the Mig-23, as you could see from the original photos, I had intended to do the special paint scheme; however, I ran into some major issues with the paint. I'm sure I messed something up somewhere and I wasnt able to salvage it. I ended up stripping the paint off and redoing the kit as a Polish Air Force camo scheme. It may not be 100% correct in terms of the colors, but its what I had on hand. I've still got a few fiddly bits and some stenciling to do before I finish the weathering. For now, here are the pics of where its at currently.

Sorry for the poor picture quality, I took them late last night without much time for setup.

:shoutout: I always like combat aircraft schemes over showboat schemes any day of the week. Very nice!

I typically like actual service aircraft over display birds; however, I do happen to like the "old-school" Thunderbird schemes, especially on the F-84G and the F-100. Something about NMF and the red, white, and blue.

Well the NMF Thunderbird F-84 and F-100 schemes were not too far off what some of the line units were using at the same time frame. There were some quite gaudy markings for some USAF squadrons in that era.

This is a sweet lookin build, for sure! Always nice to see some of the less common kits being built.
