Very nice. Dig the choppers, especially the tandem attacks choppers. Cobra is the only army hel not named after an indian tribe? Anyone know why?
IIRC, 1, it was developed as a company program, not initiated by the Army at some specification, and 2, it was developed from the UH-1 Iroquois, and used a high percentage of common parts so technically it fell under that program umbrella. The early name when first developed was “Huey Cobra”keavdog wrote:Very nice. Dig the choppers, especially the tandem attacks choppers. Cobra is the only army hel not named after an indian tribe? No, the Israelis have used the single engined Army versions:G, Q, S, F, not the twin engined Marine Corps types: J, T, W, Zmidnightprowler wrote:Beautiful. I have that Italeri kit and am going to do it in what if IDF markings as I don't believe the IDF used the W.
I don’t think anybody besides the USMC has used the Whiskey Cobra. But it has used multiple paint schemes. The three color “land temperate” scheme, several local schemes during Desert Storm, and then the TPS grays, with some commemorative and unit specific one offs there...midnightprowler wrote:Yeah that's why I may do a what if. Undecided at this point.
