I'm going to attempt a wooden stock. If I fail, I'll just go back to black.

Thanks for the comments! After completing the head, I've moved on to the torso. Since this is a poseable figure, the innards of the Stormtrooper is comprised of a jointed core assembly. This is the upper chest pointed forward. The head will plug into the top and the arms into the round openings in the sides.

Like the head pieces, I primed the body armor and then painted them gloss white.

To get a shiny gloss finish, I have to do the white in a couple of steps. There are usually surface imperfections in the first white coat so I will polish the white finish using a few different grades of Micromesh. After polishing, the white pieces came out with an interesting satin finish with some primer grey showing through in spots. It made me re-think the finish of the Stormtrooper... should I do a worn/weathered one instead of a shiny one?
Image

Will have to mull that over. Going with the weathered trooper would mean messing up the perfectly finished glossy head.

In the meantime, here's my attempt at giving the big gun a woodgrain rear stock using oil paints.

:wow: It looks like you used real wood and varnished them to a shine. Well done!!

I really like the worn look that you accidentally achieved on the armor. Much more in line with some troops in the Outer Rim as opposed to onboard the Death Star or the Imperial Starfleet

I agree with Carlos. Also, a used universe is more in keeping with Star Wars: A New Hope.

Rogue One has it, too.

The heavy blaster handle in wood looks impressive. Most impressive.
