You know - reading through your builds (which is always a delight BTW - I don't think I've EVER seen discussions in build threads like I've seen here on SPAM) I am struck by the amount of thought and effort you put into your builds. I'm pretty much the opposite - I tend to slap stuff together in quite a haphazard manner, generally hoping for the best. And whilst most of the time I'm fine with that (I have a pretty full on job and a knackering homelife) sometimes I do let down by myself - with resulting loss of mojo.

I have been feeling of late that I could do with doing a 'showcase' build as it were - just to see how far I can push myself and see what I'm actually capable of.

Do you guys ever feel like that - or do you just go full on with each build?

You are quite right about Bruce and his planning, explanation, & execution of concept. Very articulate and thorough. Myself it all stays in my head, and I work on making it happen, sometimes better than envisioned, sometimes not.
But I think I start off the opposite as what you’re saying you want to do. At the beginning I rarely plan to go in so deep on a project. It just happens as I go along where I see this can be improved here, or that can be added or replaced there. Next thing I know, what was supposed to be mostly out of box has evolved into something that did push my skills and capabilities far more than intended.

Full on. Go for it. You are worthy. We all support you. Build the best within your budget but above all follow your heart. Big thumbs up on Zoukei Mura, Tamiya and Hasegawa jets in 1/48 and 1/32. Go build and enjoy something new. You deserve this.

I wanted to add a little bit to what Carlos wrote. Carlos knows history as well, so I find he starts in his head with a contextual basis, knows where he locates his subjects in place and time, and then he sets his feet on a path towards his goal. What is cool is watching him improvise.

I hope my response above was alright. I kind of felt you need a little push, bud, and that usually takes energy to overcome stasis.
