Ok sorry for the delay on the show report. Finally got some time to get it done.
So I got there at opening, registered my models and took them to the display tables. With the Y-wing, I joked with SWMBO that if someone brought a big Starship Enterprise, I was screwed. The A-10 was just in the completely wrong category and no one said a damn thing about it. If I had moved it down a few categories it might have had a chance. Unfortunately it got lumped into a category with starships from other TV/Movie series. The vendors were decent this year. There was plenty for me to spend money on. I did miss out on a couple and I couldn't figure out why. Then while coming back inside after making a run to the truck to drop stuff off and smoke, I noticed a guy with a cart that had several of the models I had thought about getting. Apparently he was buying up a lot of the high end or very sought after kits as I heard him say that it was his third load. Asshole.
Well when they finally got to the judging, they split the "Star Wars/Star Trek" category up. They do that when there's a ton of kits for in it. SO they split it up into large scale and small scale. I was happy with that cause it gave the Y-Wing a chance. Well it won First Place!!! I was shocked. Yes I know my Y-Wing is a great build but still. They said that they had a record number of entries in the contest (600+ models) and there was some great work there. Here's the link to the album with all the pics I took. A well deserved win on the Y-Wing. Great... another Turk hoarding all the kits before anybody had a chance to buy them.
