Tamiya 1/48 Me262
Re: Tamiya 1/48 Me262...
Looking good. I'm hoping to hear the fit is typical tamiya as I'd like to add a 262 to the collection.
Thanks,
John

That's the one - the kit has you put the nose leg in place before you close up the fuselage halves. I'm wondering if you can leave the leg out and attach it later. I'll do some trial fitting but I just wondered if you'd done something similar.Floki wrote:It's been about 5 or 6 years since I built it so I can try to help. This kit has a white metal front nose gear bay right?

Thanks Medic - Lets hope I can get somewhere with this one!Medicman71 wrote:Very cool! Can't wait to see more.
Yep that's what I thoughtspeedgraflex wrote:
Not sure how I'm going to paint it yet. I'm guessing as it's silver dope it'll be like RAF High-speed silver. If that's the case I'm thinking Humbrol number 11 silver with a Matt coat over it - it's a pretty good combo for HSS.
I need to dig out my paint mule.

Re: Tamiya 1/48 Me262 (Avia S-92)
Found this rather interesting article on the Avia S-92.

It doesn't mention the silver aircraft, instead it said that they were all painted light green/grey. Mind you, that could just be a gap in his research.

If I remember right I painted the gear and bay up installed it all together then masked off everything.portman wrote:

Re: Tamiya 1/48 Me262...
Thanks! I might do a test fit and see if I can get away with not installing it.
Mind you, there's a guy on youtube I watch that builds and paints and installs all of his U/C before he paints the main model. Another advantage of painting with brushes I guess.

I don't like to do it that way. I prefer adding the landing great after painting. But I know I did it this way for some reason I think it's because I was afraid of breaking it. But I built this before I started documenting my builds so I don't know for sure.
