Thanks Carlos. I fully agree with you, it is strange how some of these old designs kept on going - some of these aircraft were still flying into the 70's.

Should be a interesting build to follow of a very interesting aircraft.

Not sure about the interesting build part but it is certainly an interesting aircraft...

How does the kit look?

Pretty good in a basic sort of way. I did some work on it during lunch - nothing terribly exciting, just assembled a few bits and gave all the internals a coat of Tamiya XF-1 Black (with a brush - yes I really am that crazy).



Hopefully tomorrow I'll do a bit of drybrushing in the pit - maybe some decals and then I'll get it assembled.

Stuart, do you use the Tamiya retarder for brush painting? Also what sort of brushes do you prefer to use with Tamiya paints for best results? Natural or synthetic bristles?

I do - I put in a big dollop of retarder and their thinners directly into the paint pot and stir it. It seems to do the trick rather well. To be honest it's still not the best paint, but I've run out of acrylic and enamel black so this had to do. It does really need priming as well as it's a very fragile paint - but it should be OK here.

I've not thought about what type of brushes to be honest I tend to favour these ones from Airfix which just happen to be natural. (talking of which I need to order some more)

I hear ya about hand brushing Tamiya. I only do so on a few items if need be. I will say that the more that I use Humbrol acrylics, the more that I am liking those. Great stuff!
