Never think the modelling gods do not have a sense of humor. Dropped a part #E4 - about 1/2" by 1 1/2"....Swept the floor under the desk around the desk..no luck. Found it in my shoe When it dropped, that is where it landed. A first for me.

As big as this C-54 is, it is easy to forget it is a 1/72 scale kit. Until you get details the size of BBs and small seat parts that are two pieces with butt joints and 3-4 colors to be applied....The control column was two pieces.

That was a lucky save! Never be it said or written that you don’t have luck on your side. Just keep your parts in a plastic container after you free them! Especially 1/72. Those detail pieces have a mind of their own.

which time? I’ve dropped several things and so far, found all of them!
I’ll see if I can get a pic of the trim wheels (two colors) that are attached to the side of the console. BB diameter, maybe? I do put things in containers. Then I dump them out on the desk when I forget they are in there. I am a mess.

I find an old black t-shirt on the work surface smoothes the bounce when I’m working with cut pieces. The dark color makes a dropped part easier to see. I am just not a fan of cutting matts without something soft thrown over ‘em to catch or reduce that bouncing effect. Cheers!

I sort of/kind of do that sometimes...paper towel, piece of 2500grit sand paper...

Ever wonder why jewelers use trays? It’s sort of the same effect with a t-shirt for me. It has to be big enough to create a landing pad. I’m mixing metaphors aren’t I? And hey my advice continues to be to sub assemble the major cockpit sections then primer gray or whatever base color is close to prototype then detail paint the sub assemblies. It was either Thomas or Torben who taught me the value of a good stick for support. I always white glue seats to toothpicks, to create handles for um handling, yes.
