No framing on the windscreen, Bruce. Just the framing on the bulletproof glass inside and the rods that support it and I suppose strengthen the windshield perimeter frame.. I should have painted the edges of the armor glass but it looks like I missed that. The armor glass is a piece of acetate behind the windscreen. I polished out the lines on the outside of the windscreen. It's been a long time but I am pretty sure I just scraped the rivets off using the back side of a #11 blade.

Here's a picture of the canopy on an AVG P-40. You can't really call them a B or a C as they were scrapped together from parts of both, and the engines were said to have been built up specifically for them and were actually better than the normal mass production. At least that has been written. There was another fixture added to the back top of the armor glass visible in some AVG photos but I don't know what it is and I did not add it on mine.

The boomer won’t do you much good in storage should the time come suddenly. When we had the unrest here last month I had to remember Rogers Rangers second standing order and follow it with my three gun set up. I had been neglectful after the move.

Have your musket clean as a whistle, hatchet scoured, sixty rounds powder and ball, and be ready to march at a minute's warning.

With 20th century updates and a tad more than 60 rounds of course... Better to have and not need than need and not have.

Thank you, Carlos. You’re right about keeping inventory close. Most if not all of the armory is 3,000 miles away with my Uncle Jack. He will be well defended! Also thanks for reminding me to read Rogers Rules again. I need to memorize those, now more than ever. We all should.

There’s a fella online making part sections just for the P-40; that’s one of his windscreen files. The extra vertical brace does not match references so far. It’s good too have a feel for the interior support, though. That looks alright. Let me know. Might could be a later model, with more of a beefed up appearance. Yes I think this is a P-40N design? Maybe?

Update: the kit could arrive as early as tonight.

Although not the Monogram kit, here's my P-40 in the Flying Tigers markings. I've always had a fascination with them. Maybe because their heritage lives on with the 23rd FW.

Those are later P-40 windscreens, Bruce. The P-36 to P-40D had the frameless, the E and on had a flat center pane and other separate panes around it with lots of framing. There were several varieties from the E to the N, and the XP-40Q was another kettle of fish entirely.

I placed the Xtradecal profile (bottom) under another profile which depicts a red-yellow nose. Note also that the Xtradecal profile extends the yellow farther back, and the shark mouth either was painted on top or very close to it - perhaps the unit painter added the yellow around the nose?

The ones you posted of decal art are USAAF schemes, so I would not expect them to conform to the AVG. But you probably knew that already.

Going to be a fun build to watch! As long as you're having fun and remembering good times with your dad it's going to be worth it. My dad is one tough old man who is now in his fifth fight with cancer he had radiation for two places in his brain back in February the radiation worked and they disappeared now he has another that popped up and they can't do anymore radiation on his head so we don't know what's going to happen. He has always said that cancer isn't going to be what kills him after four and a half years in Vietnam and walked out of two Huey crashes with out a scratch I believe he's right. Either way if you're still lucky enough to have your parents or grandparents around spend as much time with them as possible you'll regret it later if you don't.
As for being prepared with as crazy as people have been acting I've switched from carrying my .380 to my 9mm 92fs and keep two loaded AR mags at home now ready to go if need be and the wife has her Mossberg 500 loaded and ready to go in the closet.
Back to the model, I know I've been rambling lol. You said that you had a file for the windscreen. Is it a 3d file? If so I could resin print it and send it to you to try out.

I wanted to write, “managing life and death,” because we all face both and somehow usually take life for granted and ignore death completely. I have been toying about adding a S&W Centennial Airweight to my kit. it’s been awhile since I’ve handled anything smaller than a snub nose .38 but your current EDC choices have me curious about 9mm.
