1/48 Tamiya Skyray

Any subject, any scale, as long as it's a Tamiya kit.

Built up the seat and cockpit. The seat was very fiddilty and some clean up will be needed. Looks like I'll have to use the decal for the instrument panel as there's not much detail there.

A fiddly Tamiya assembly? That doesn’t sound right... :hmm:

Well this is one of the older Tamiya kits. It's from 1998.

This is definitely not your typical Tamiya kit. The two inner walls of the main gear bays butt up against the wall with the engine fan. The contact spots are just butt joins and not easy to get together.

Well, it’s not like their 70’s vintage kits that I’ve built, but yes, I see what you mean.

I have the same experience with the 1/32 F-15 kits, designed about that time. They are wonderful kits but every once in awhile they will throw you a curve.

Well I've been dry fitting everything prior to doing anything else and I keep finding weird things. Like this part. This is the only time I've gotten it to sit flush with the fuselage and it's still not perfect.

Hey, what else you got to do? You'll get it...I have faith in you.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thanks Lyle! I do have to go back to work tomorrow so I'm trying to get as much done as I can now.
