The kit is easy enough... but it has something of a basic engine piece, and optional position engine deck access grilles. So I started looking for reference photos of what’s all in there...

I can’t say that I have ever seen a tank build with the engine bay detailed...if tou don’t lose your ever loving mind, this should be good.

This’ll be my first time also... aside from building some vehicle kits that had various levels of engines in them, as is. I’ve never detailed any before.... we shall see

So today was spent doing steps 5, 6, & 7. Although step 6, adding parts to the underside of the upper hull, and 7, finishing the fender items and attaching the engine and upper hull to the lower hull, I only did partially due to my choice to upgrade the engine compartment.
I am also backdating the kit to an early production model, so I had to swap out the driver and assistant driver hatches periscope brush guards for the older type used, rather than what comes with the kit. Fortunately I have some in my spares bin.
and lastly I started detailing the engine part that comes with the kit. I only did the transmission section today.
And this is what you can see thru the open grilles
More to come in a few days...

Stik, the same friend that has the M74 I made a model of last year has the gas engine used by early M47, a Continental air cooled V-12. I could get pictures of it to drive you mad.
I did the Bandai 1/48 T34/76 combined with Hobby Boss parts that had engine and transmission detail.

John, I found the Tech Manual for the M47 online and downloaded it. I am using multiple photos from that manual to use as my reference. My main thing now is not to dive in too deep!
