I knew metalizer colors can be airbrushed out of bottles. My issue is airbrushing enamel metallic colors.

Those definitely have to be thinned. At least in the past 34 years that I’ve been airbrushing enamels, I have yet to come across one so thin as to even suggest non thinned airbrushing.

That’s a given thinning enamel paint for airbrushing. Just wondered why metallic colors are hard to airbrush. I don’t know if it’s because I used lacquer thinner to thin enamel paint but honestly, I don’t think that’s the issue.

Well, I mix my Tamiya acrylics and most any lacquers 60/40 with MLT and that seems to work best for me between 12 to 20 psi depending on how my mist coats go. If you are using the acrylics let them set for a couple of days so they can out gas well. Then you and sand or cover them with clear lacquer. if you use 2K clear then I recommend shooting over a flat finish.
