Have you tried either dialing down your air pressure, or thinning your top coat another +/- 10%?

I need to make it thinner yeah. And know when to stop....

You stop when you're either out of paint, or painted your hands, table, lamp, pets, etc....

In actuality, if you can find some articles on armor model panel shading, they help. Also a book called "Building and detailing Sherman Tanks", is a great resource on all kinds of interesting weathering techniques. Then there's the model railroading books....

I mention that particular book because he goes into pretty good detail on using an airbrush for pre-shading, post-shading and panel fading. Plus on how to use the models natural lines to create illusion with weathering. I used his advice on my Spitfire build.
