Yeah, unlike everyone else who made or makes Sherman’s in 1/35 or 1/32, Tamiya neglected to add the sponson bottoms on the original tooling hulls… but it is a quick easy fix using some sheet styrene.

And all painted up, it'll be hard to notice :

Very cool Gary - that worked well. Did you assemble the hull halves before adding the plasticard, or before?

Answered my own question. After about five minutes work, I'd cut out a template in some scrap plasticard.



Not a bad fit, I might make one slightly larger just to fill in the gaps around the edges a bit more.



If I can sort this out and then fill the gaps around the drive sprockets I'll be a lot happier.

That fix looks great, Stuart! You'll need a few, small pieces for the drive sprocket's gap (see my first pic) and then, Bob's your uncle!

Thanks Gary - now I've got the concept in my head I'll make up another one that fills the gap slightly better and it'll be done. Then it's onto the gaps at the front as you say.

Progress progress progress.... It's getting near needing some paint. Just the .50 to build. It also needs a bit of filler on the end of the barrel.

I really need to get a Sherman kit. I haven’t done one in over 40 years since the late 70s when I did the old Monogram Screamin’ Mimi Sherman tank.

Well, unlike when that Screamin’ Mimi kit was around, there’s tons of Sherman kits to choose from today. Just about every production variant has been kitted in 1/35 by one company or another.
