Finally after a week away from my bench due to various reasons, the black camo is on. Used Mission Models' Worn Tire Black instead of Tire Black (too dark for my liking)

This bird will be displayed wheels up and hung on the ceiling as well.

Yes sir. All is left is a coat of gloss clear to prep for decaling.

I opt not to arm this bird with rockets but will put wing tanks on instead.
I still have a couple minor painting left to do - mainly canopy frames and antenna before calling this one done.

I am confident the white stripes will stay intact but I won't be surprise of minor paint bleed from the green and tire black. We'll see soon enough.

Looking very nice. The red on the cowling looks great.

Just as I anticipated... paint bleed under mask tape for stripes. Easy fixes.

After tape off and fixes photos...

What kind of tape were you using, Tom that allowed that much leakage? I wonder if Frog masking tape's edges would seal with acrylic paint like it does with latex paint? :hmm: That stuff seals out water-based paint like a champ.

I used my go-to Frog yellow painter tape. I buffed it down as much as I could but am not too surprised I'd find paint bleed. The fuselage sides aren't smooth but have panel type lines typical of Yak-1b.

Keep in mind, masking to cover the white around the fuselage is a challenge.
