Well, color me dumb, because now I realize that it's the Eduard P-39 you're building, Stuart! I've only done the Monogram P-39 1/48 kit, but I do think it's one of Monogram's best models. Stuart, you're going to really enjoy building an Airacobra and I expect you'll produce a great result with it, as well!

Yup, built a few of the Monogram ‘Cobras myself I still have a couple in my stash. I’d like to try one of the Accurate or Eduard kits someday…

Sure enough. I knew a man here in Cameron, golfing buddy of my former boss, who was in the Army Air Corps in WWII. He said the P-39 was his favorite plane to fly from that era. But he also claimed he knew of a AT-6 Texan that ran out of fuel, the pilot bailed, and then the airplane landed by itself, completely intact. And he had some other, shall we say, questionable stories as well. Like the time it got so hot that the field corn was "popping" in the ear, like popcorn!

3 things.
Prop blades and exhaust. Multiple variations make sure you use what ones you need

Weight in the nose. Put it everywhere

The car doors don't curve the same as the fuselage canopy, you'll have to work to get them to close. Or do like I did and keep them open

Very nice builds Gents - just goes to show how nice some of those old Monogram kits build up

That is a nice scheme I agree - certainly the Monogram kit seems to be really popular.
