Your Thunderbolt turned out great Carlos.
I don't think your the only one who loves that story about Johnson surviving getting bounced by a flight of Fw's.
I can't remember where I heard it the firs time. I wonder if it's in Great American Fighter Pilots of WW2.
Will have to grab my copy and see...

Thanks Mike! After all this talk about that book, I think that I need to pull mine off the shelf and re read it again. It’s been a long time since the last read.Medicman71 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2026 8:14 am Like I said before, just a really beautiful build!! I'm gonna have to get that book now.![]()

Thanks Chris. I have seen the story of this event in several different books, magazine articles, or online articles over the years. I think that it’s actually in one of the Time Life WWII books as well… it tends to have a similar status in aviation stories like Taylor & Welch at Pearl Harbor, Randy Cunningham and Willie Driscoll’s triple Mig kill, or some other fighter duel stories.cbaltrin wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2026 11:03 am Your Thunderbolt turned out great Carlos.
