Started pulling parts off sprues to paint flat white; struts, doors, wheel hubs, wheel well assembly, intake mouth halves, etc…

Then I assembled minor bits in various steps. One thing I did notice is instruction guide DOES NOT tell you part number on certain parts (ie: lower fins for which side) or list as wrong part number - early and newer version wheel hub on instruction guide is wrong. It’s the opposite number assignment.

Tomorrow, I’ll start assemble main and nose struts pieces before paint. Cockpit is assembled but not painted yet. Bang seat not assembled. Missing a pair of AIM-9X sidewinders. Most likely I used them on another Viper kit :headbang: May have to look and see if I have a pair of AIM-120 AMRAAM in my weapons stash to use on wingtips. If not, I may build as unarmed with a pair of wing tanks instead. :hmm:

Kinetic is notorious for bad instructions!

I feel your pain; I get flashbacks to my own stalled Kinetic F-16 build.

I looked up photos of these aircraft, and they show carrying AIM-9L or M Sidewinders, not X’s or AMRAAMs. I tried to post the photos here last night but was having technical problems doing so.

Well, this kit is a Belgian AF Viper according to the box cover. :bored:

Kit does come with AMRAAM missles on the sprues. Scroll to bottom of instruction guide.

I googled Belgian AF AIM-9 type as well as well as AIM-120 AMRAAM used in 2016. Carlos is correct. BAF Vipers carried AIM-9M and they did in fact, were armed along with AIM-120B AMRAAM. Haven’t decided which to arm on the wingtips. I know I’m installing a pair of wing tanks. :lashed:

Main wings static dischargers are too fragile on the sprue trees. Three of them snapped without me taking it out of the sprue bag. Tried gluing CA thin to back in its break points. Once dried, not happy with it. Thankfully, I have aftermarket 1/48 scale F-16 metal static dischargers in my stash from a long time ago. I also have 1/72 scale as well.

I looked at the instruction guide and it explains how to install them. Just scribe a channel for them and use CA glue.
