Bish, I gotta give some credit to you for inspiration on this stuff. Your F-111 build had me remembering this latest batch of equipment in my stash. But yes, between all the various kit companies, there is a good amount of this stuff out there in plastic nowadays. And when you add in resin from companies like Verlinden you can really get some serious amounts of ground support stuff going. I still have more unbuilt stuff in my stash, but now I am thinking of what's out there and I do not yet have...
Portman, I am looking forward to the new Airfix RAF stuff (and their new Hurricane I) due out soon. I am still trying to decide if I should paint this stuff in Yellow which is good thru Vietnam, or the post Vietnam Dark Bronze Green shade that the Air Force switched over to.

Its good to see it in other scales. In 72nd there is quite a good selection of modern kit, especially US and RAF, and I have come across some rather nice new items lately. Not sure if you have come across these, guys, I stumbled on them while researching stuff for the 111, they seem to have a nice selection, including the more recent version of the MJ-1

They are resin, so not cheap, but they look nice and I am planning on getting some stuff there. And there are a few other companies bringing out some nice items including AIM and F4 models. Now just be nice to have some decent figure sets.

LOL - thats the Italeri set, is it? Have it here too, but never build it - too frustrating an too many work (sinking spots - loads of them!, figures with strange anatomy, i. e. ape arms & legs, ejection marks and and and... ).

Very cool Stik! I don't think I have the skills to paint figures, at least not yet anyway.

Tig, that is indeed the old ESCI set. I remember seeing it when it first came out in the 70s.. I don't think the figures are that bad. Not for 1/48 anyways.
Medic, my figure painting skills are not all that good either. At least not in my own opinion. I have seen way better. But I am coming along well enough with them. That is what I have been doing lately, nickel and diming these guys along. Today I did some washes on the flesh areas to where there are actually starting to look like more than blobs of color...

a bit of progress on my pilots & ground crew figures... this is mostly what I have been working on over the past few weeks at the bench just to get something done there...
Russkies
and Brits
I still have a ways to go with them...
