John, that late marque Spit of yours is a real beauty! Very well done! I know the base kit is good, as I have one in my stash. But I can only imagine how nice it is with all the extra goodies in the Eduard edition. Now perhaps a late model Mustang or Thunderbolt to keep her company...

Thanks guys! And I DO have a Thunderbolt AND a 262 in my small collection of completed builds.

The Mk 24 build went pretty smoothly with no major problems encountered. The Airfix-sourced plastic parts were good overall with very fine recessed surface details. A few sink marks here and there that needed to be filled along the bottom of the nose, on the fuselage sides and on the wing cannon parts.




The Aires resin cockpit fit well after the prerequisite thinning of the fuselage insides and the resin sidewalls but like many cockpits, it kind of disappears when the fuselage halves go together.





One little touch that I added that I haven't seen on other Mk22/24 builds is the unique "kink" in the rudder trim tab. I went through a few iterations before finalizing that little piece.





I used my standard preshading routine.




The camo pattern was hard masked using yellow Tamiya tape.




The prop assembly was treated like a separate model and given the full preshading and weathering treatment.

That´s maybe the best looking mark of all those Spits done! And even better, another top notch build and finish by you!

I wasn't able to post an update to my current Dora build so I thought I'd go back into the archives and share another past build. This is one that I built for a friend of mine last summer. It is a 1/48 P-51B built from the Tamiya Mustang III kit. The Geronimo markings are from an older Superscale decal sheet. The cowl checkerboard decal didn't fit at all so I had to rough it out by masking. The one major mod that I performed was to add the Vector resin wheel wells to correct the inaccurate Tamiya depiction. I also added a resin seat from Ultracast. Accuracy issues aside, the Tamiya kit built up very well. My only other complaint would be the Malcolm hood canopy... it's too thick and full of distortion.













These pictures show a very visible mistake on my part. Can you guys spot it?

Geez... if there is one, I certainly can't find it. I like the wheel well details though. Gives me ideas and good reference pics next time I do a P-51 Mustang kit. Well done!!

Cannot see any of those pics. I checked the links you used; seems fine to me. Looks like a Photobucket problem, possibly. Will check again later.
