That wash turned out beautifully. Just beautifully. That makes me want to try pastels as pigments for washes again. Lovely work!

Thanks guys! Second round of weathering is done! I added some post-shading using highly-thinned dark brown and put some chips on using a sponge. Afterwards, I sealed the wash with a flat coat.

She's really got that war weary look going now, just beautiful.

I have no words except I am intimidated in your work. You are truly a master.

I'd love to learn the stuff you've done but I'm more of a hands on type of guy to physically see how it's done. In other words, I prefer someone who would teach me in physically so I get a better understanding how to do it.

Granted, I know I could practice on a mule kit but still.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone! I did some salt fading on the top of Yellow 3 today. But the model developed a bit of the "dusty" look that I hate. I think part of it was exacerbated by the harsh lighting in the light box... gotta watch that.


So I took a few steps backward by giving her another shot of gloss. Lost the frost but also much of the salt fading. I want to get the finish a little flatter than where she is at now but I'm still leery of the dusty phenomenon.



I was playing with the landing gear and the nose leg was resisting my efforts but suddenly popped into place. Didn't want to yank it out so I decided to glue it in a little earlier than desired. The nose wheel isn't glued into place yet. I have to get all three wheels on in order to have the model rest on the flat tire spots.



As you can see, I've dirtied up the bottom a bit more with post-shading in different colors and more chipping via sponge and colored pencil. I've added some speculative red primer marks on the bottom.

I like those effects. Quite a lot. May I ask how you got that streaking? It looks too smooth to me to have been done with pigments. It looks like very accurate airbrush work. It also looks lovely, of course. And what I enjoy in particular about this is the contrast the work you did in the gear bays adds to the bottom view. They work very well together, the bays and the underside. Good realism, and good art as well.
