Small updates...bored out of my skull waiting for the paint from MCW. It was shipped last Friday....

Chassis done. Probably the first time I actually added all the parts that were in the instructions, well, except for the lower radiator hose. can't fit it in there.



Bored, you say? How about painting white walls bored? They have since been cleaned up a bit.



Even painted the back-up lenses on the rear bumper. Diluted gloss white (Tamiya X-2) oh, 50-50 or so...

Looking good. Speedway has whitewall decals.

For some reason the idea of decals on vinyl tires makes me think they’ll never hold. Painting them is even worse. But hey, they look pretty awesome. Well done, Lyle!

Can't tell you how much I like what you've done to the underside of this beauty Lyle. I'll show you a contrasting picture and you'll see the difference right off.

This is a random picture of the underside of an older Corvette build. While it has some of the major details brought out what I want you to pay attention to is the same boring shade of black throughout. There's just no interest here. Black Black and more SAME SHADE OF black with the only color considered for detail being silver...and leaf springs are rarely silver so that right there is boldly incorrect. No interest at all and I would never show anyone this if it were mine.



......and then we have yours.



A more matte black for a base color, semi-gloss black for the frame color with good chipping and details picked out, good use of metallic color for the differential carrier assy, then it's a more glossy black for the front suspension, shocks and cross member where the transmission mount is. You broke up the monotony of silver on the exhaust by picking out the details such as clamps and mufflers with a slightly different color than the rest of the exhaust and then you topped it all off by weathering the whole chassis slightly. Bravo Bravo and more Bravo Lyle!!! Now THAT is something you wont mind turning the model over and showing off. Job well done my good friend.

Thanks, Joe. Just tried to follow your advice. Not having spent much time looking at the underside of cars or engines...well, cars in general it was guess work. I think I tried to not have the same type of black next to each other. Anyway, it is something I am happy with.

The mufflers were hit with a good dose of Tamiya Smoke.

The process for his is basically this, coat the tires with future, or some water based acrylic clear gloss, apply decals, coat with your favorite clear gloss. He's never had trouble with adherence I have some, one of these days I'll try them..
