A couple of Cold War Warriors.
Re: A couple of Cold War Warriors.
Magnificent work!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Looking good with the decals on Stuart!
Here a few photos of US Army M48s in Vietnam for some weathering reference….

Looking good! This was a pretty good book about a Marine tanker in M48s in Vietnam

Thanks,

Thanks Gents - much appreciated, you're too kind.
@John - thanks for the book recommendation - I'll take a look. I've read a lot of books on Vietnam over the years, but never one from a Tankers veiwpoint - that's be quite interesting.
The build is basically done I think - I've got to sort out the area where I joined the tracks, add some antenna and some stowage - but it's getting there. Maybe not the best work in the world, but I think I'm happy. I wanted to keep it basically OD, but with a hint of Vietnam red and dust. Oh, and I need to drybrush the MG a bit more.

I probably need a M113 to go with it.
Cheers!

A bit more work - just figuring out what stowage to use and where to put it.

Re: A couple of Cold War Warriors.
Looking better and better Stuart! I’d suggest moving the C-ration case off of the cupola. One, it blocks the view of the periscope sight for the .50, and two, it would not stay on that location unless strapped down… amd I don’t believe that ther is anything, ace up there to strap anything down on the cupola.

Man you're going to make me try to find it now aren't you - I saw a photo of a M48 in Vietnam with a C-Ration box tied around the turret - the rope went right around the mantle. I did wonder about the periscope too but it usefully covers up the fact there's no cover!
Typically I can't bloody find it now lol.

Re: A couple of Cold War Warriors.
If there is an external mounted machine gun, then blocking the periscope is no big deal. But if the gun is mounted in the cupola, the periscope is need for sighting.
