To answer your question: The entire model got a wash with oil paints. But gun smoke and at the exhausts is pastel chalk. I made a powder of it by using sand-paper. Application is done with a small soft brush.

I am excited you entered the project in competition! A worthy goal to see how your work translates amongst peers. You have great strength of personality to do this.

For me personally your Spitfire and Convair both are ready to fly. That is the highest praise. If the ground crews from both eras saw these models they would approve, if the pilots arrived they would be delighted to see such care taken to recreate the aircraft they knew. Even the fictional projects you create are attached to history in my mind. Your wonderful “What ifs” always surprise and excite.

Thanks Carlos! This time it was luck that the washing and pastels worked so great on my self-mixed "sky"

But look out for the others too. Some are really nice.

The Convair CV-258-1 has been finished tonight.
I would like to know what u guys think about my low-cost plants on its base.

Your additions look great! Have you thought about taking the low cost vegetation (is this a sponge you shredded?) and adding subtle color variance?



In addition each bush sits on a slightly raised mound of earth. You could create this on a few of the foreground bushes or use this to vary the heights of the bushes. Perhaps a small dollop of putty, with a dusting of sand could achieve this?

Cool ideas Bruce I am going to implement. And yes, it is a sponge. The entire base doesn't cost more than 2€. And it is just a trial.
