Yeah - that's always the challenge with brush painting Gloss and Satin - getting it even. But I was thinking 2-3 as well, I was just wondering if you guys were doing a stupid number like 5-6 coats and I'd missed something.

Bravo Stuart! That is a remarkably brilliant finish! I love it! I'll be looking forward to seeing the grey one too. I've already built two Hawks; one with the grey camouflage and the other the grey green wrap-around scheme. I was too afraid to try that one.
Future is the best bet for a brush on finish as it is the most self-leveling material out there that I know of. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks Mark - I have to say it's not been the easiest scheme to paint, it's certainly been a challenge.

I tried Future but wasn't happy with the consistency, which is strange as I've used it before with no issues

maybe is didn't like the red and white? In the end I used Alclad II Aqua Gloss. I'm not sure if its intended to be brush painted but it gives a nice finish.
I've started to add the decals and have one side and the wing tops done - I'll leave them to dry overnight before I do the other side.
This is the actual aircraft I'm modelling - XX164.I'm pretty pleased I managed to find a photo of it!
Cheers!

I don't normally share pic's halfway through decalling, but I'm liking how this one is coming out...

Very cool subject. Looking sharp. Red and white is always tough.
