This would be the Broken Eagles GB. You have to build a wrecked A/C. Which is also a good idea BTW!

Hiya all,
I got a phantom too, so if anyone is interested in doing the phantom group build, I'm in.

I’m always down for a F-4 group build— I have numerous monogram Fujim i and Hasegawa phantoms in my stash. However, I need to change the title of this thread to 2025..Ceaser_Sa1ad wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 5:52 am Hiya all,

Re: GB Ideas for 2024?
I'm up for it but not this year. I have a particular Phantom I'm looking to do. Need to buy the kit and decal set.

Re: Future GB Ideas (Renamed)
Disclaimer: I have no time for more group builds right now, but I do enjoy thinking up new GB ideas for entertainment purposes if for nothing else.
That said, Here is another one I came up with (probably has been thought of before in one form or another, so I won't claim to idea to be original).
It would be called the "Box Photo Group Build" .
So, you are the lucky guy or gal that the model company has contracted with to build up their kits for the 'box top photo'.
Obviously, this would mean you could not modify or improve the kit in any fashion -- just build the best version of the plastic that comes in the box. Exception would be markings -- because old kits can have unusable decals. Now , any kit would qualify , but you would get extra respect by building an older kit that actually was around during the box photo era and presented some
challenges
for the builder
Now, there are a few real life examples of model company shenanigans where they used a photo of an imposter model on the box top, but that would not be in the spirit of this GB.
Obviously, you present of photo of your completed kit in box top style, maybe with a paint brush or x-acto knife and a bottle of paint next to it like Testors used to do.

Re: Future GB Ideas (Renamed)
The box top photo era really was only for about 10-15 years or so from the late 70’s to the early 90’s. Then kit makers returned to box art…. and some companies (Tamiya) never adopted completed build box top photos…

Re: Future GB Ideas (Renamed)
That sounds about right Carlos. I believe it was brought on by some legal wrangling about honesty in advertising so it mostly would have affected stuff being sold in the U.S. Maybe that is how US-Airfix came about?

Re: Future GB Ideas (Renamed)
Yes, I vaguely recall something like that happening. A few of the Japanese companies never went over to photos of the actual kit build on the box tops, but most everything made in North America and Western Europe did. At least among the mainstream kit companies. Then box art started returning in the early 80’s
