Talking of SCATs, my P-51D turned up yesterday along with the decals. Nothing complicated, just two sprues (with a surprising resemblance to the Tamiya kit breakdown) and some nice if basic detail - I’ve already started doing some painting.



Ever since I started modelling again back in 2010ish I’ve always done a lot of my building sat in the back of my car during work lunch breaks. It’s not something I’ve done for quite a few months now owing to having a new job – but I’ve picked it up again today as I've really been missing it.



I’m keeping it simple this time, and have only bought the basic tools and paints with me, rather than the full works as I had before – but it’s more than enough to do a basic 1/72 kit. I have to say it was nice to escape the bounds of the office for half an hour and work on some plastic.

That rocks man! Way to go, that looks like fun getting away for a bit. It is probably also quite refreshing as well. Progress is looking great!

I’m with you Stuart, on the “building on breaks from work.” I’m lucky I work from home, always at my desk. This building in the car, man, I like the cut of your jib! That’s dedication. I admire the tenacity!

Stuart,

I would be more than tempted to have you use these words as an “Introduction” to your modeling work. Sincerely. Not only does this make an interesting statement of purpose, but this is a unique approach. I was inspired by your earlier mention on the sadly gone away to heaven Me-262 of the same process.

I have questions:

What do you bring and how do you carry your materials and sprues? I assume you could go in an extremely minimal fashion with one brush, a few paper cups, thinner and paint? What do you use as your work surface?

Also—what are you using for Dull Dark Green/ZCG?
