Got the foundation for the chipping on the legs done during my lunch break. I paid attention to anything that looked like it could get scuffed, or banged on with a wrench, whatever, and started mapping out how I’d like to do it in my mind.

Dang! Looks great. I’d be heating up the tines of a fork (please definitely test before applying this to your superb model) and making blast holes. With lacquer... I use jams, jellies, peanut butter to splatter these onto the subsurface layer. Rubber cement too. I haven’t done that in awhile but all the ILM models have rubber cement, cigarette ashes and CA blobs on ‘em.

Legs are done! It doesn’t look like it but there’s actually a lot of surface area to cover, just with all the angles and stuff. Chipping was accomplished with Aqua Net, and a stiff, wet brush. Also, when I painted it, I tried to foce myself to do it in as haphazard and almost sloppy manner as I could, to simulate a quick and dirty field application.

Progress, progress. And I think that’ll do ‘er for today. Back to it tomorrow.
