Thanks, Gents. I am sending all of you my best as you navigate the rocks and shoals and rough weather of living. A new day dawned, but I still feel attached to the old one.

Chin up and soldier on, Bruce. It sucks when health problems affect those that we love. And it seems to happen more frequently as you get older. I know there is no consolation in that thought but... I remember when my dad had to undergo a triple bypass. This was probably around 15 years ago. My dad was already pretty old and had survived stomach cancer. When I talked to him on the phone, I remember getting a weird sense of resignation that it was his time to go. It was the first time I had heard fear in his voice. But then, weakly, he asked, "Ahhh... so when you come to Hawaii... bring your golf clubs..." And, just as suddenly, I knew he was going to recover. I still chuckle when I think about that moment. Sometimes, the things we love are enough to bring us back from the brink.

That is a truly wonderful and inspiring story, John. Thank you for sharing and your insight into a collective response to fears or anxieties or both.

There was fella I knew briefly growing up who finished each box car or loco with an audible sigh and the words; “Another masterpiece.” I got in trouble because I laughed, and he was serious. Oops. Sorry, buddy. I busy cataloging information on weathering for all modelers! Look at this:

That's really cool Bruce! I always wanted to get into model railroads or at least make some small dioramas like with your black bridge project. I do have some 1/35th German railcars and engines that I will one day build. About 12 years ago I spent the summer working maintenance for Norkfolk Southern seeing all the old yards and old unused machinery a lot of stuff is like a time capsule haven't been moved in 50+ years since the guy who used it last.
